If I Had A Chest Infection, Would It Be Contagious?

Just got a cough I cannot shift, can't even get an early night as I keep waking DS up with it! Someone said it might be a chest infection, guess I better get it checked out, but if it was, would it be contagious? DS has got abit of a cough now aswell...

Quootie,it would depend upon what caused it.Very probable if it was a viral thing.My dcs are poorly with a coughy high temp thing at the mo.Hope yours are ok.

A chest infection is not contagious. You could theoretically pass on the original virus if you cough in someone's face, but a chest infection is a secondary infection.

That's sort of what I meant - is what caused the chest infection (if I have one) contagious

Yeah Quootie,sorry fortyplus is right,a chest infection is not in itself contagious but it could progress to that given the right circumstances IYSWIM.So don't worry uneccessarily
