tmi. heavy period?

I am on day three and so far this morning have soaked two pads and two super tampons.

I feel horrendous and have awful tummy cramps.

I have had heavy periods but not this heavy. Is it overkill to call the dr?

I am in an all male office and I just want to go home!

If this is unmanageable, not normal for you, normal but affecting your ability to work, then no it isn't unreasonable to see your GP.

I once went to GP about this and was immediately sent to hospital. I had lost enough blood that I had gone into shock. I also have anaemia. There are pills they can prescribe that slows up the blood loss. They work almost immediately and you can take them only when needed or every month.

Just say you are bleeding heavily, feel ill with it and you need to go see your GP.

You need medical advice.

Heavy bleeding like this is not something that you should put up with.
It is not overkill to see the GP and I would be asking this person at that appointment also for a referral to a gynaecologist.

Treating the symptoms is all very well and good but you need to determine WHY this is happening in the first place. Hence the suggestion also to see a gynae; endometriosis and fibroids can cause heavy bleeding to arise causing the person to become anaemic. In the meantime as well I would keep a daily pain and symptom diary as this will also give the gynae clues.

Well I am booked in for blood tests and in the waiting list for the coil.
I don't want the cool but don't think j have any other option.

Think you have been fobbed off there splashing. The blood tests will not detect the presence of endometriosis if it is there and there is no mention here of any internal ultrasound scan to see if fibroids are present.

The coil may or may not help in the longer term but again this is only treating the symptoms. Its not going to at all address the root cause of the problem. If you do not want the coil either then do not have it.

Is the GP wanting you to see a gynae?.

The copper coil is known to make periods heavier.

I was offered the pill to try before a mirena. My sister had a mirena for heavy bleeding and it's been fine. If you look at nhs site for heavy period bleeding it explains the things that can be tried.

I saw a nurse practitioner and was told she would refer if needed. DH wants me to go back and see a GP.

Can i piggy back, a super plus tampon lasts an hour in my heavy bit is this abnormal?
