I woke up about 10 minutes ago because I was gasping to breathe. When I went to the bathroom my lips were tinged blue.

I've had "no voice" for a while. No pain, just no voice so I've been teaching on it.
Yesterday I felt exhausted and a little achy all day. I wrapped myself up on the sofa and dozed, I started developing symptoms of a cold so I used olbas and some lemsip then went to bed and slept.

I woke up a lot in the night. Usually because DH was talking to me in his sleep and I was sleeping unusually lightly. I was coughing and throat was getting sore. I was also wheezing. Not from my lungs, my air was wheezing in my throat.

So this morning. I'm woken up because I can't breathe (stuffy nose and tight throat.)
If I cough hard enough I can shift some green "gunk" from my throat which helps breathing a little for a minute of so but hurts like hell.
Tongue and back of mouth are so swollen I can't see them in the mirror.
I keep catching myself "gasping" for air if I relax and start dozing and I'm now sat up on my sofa.

I've taken paracetamol and 'Brufen for the pain and swelling.

It's Sunday. Do I stick this out until my doctor is open tomorrow or do I take it seriously? The gasping and blueness is worrying me. (DH's asleep!)

Take it seriously!!!

And wake your DH!

TheoriginalLEM · 22/11/2015 09:11

your lips were blue and you were struggling to breathe. drs now!!!!

ChinaSorrows · 22/11/2015 09:23

They weren't "blue" they were just tinged blue around the outside. That kind of purple/mauve colour.
My nail beds are ok looking.

Ok. So if I do wake DH. Where do I go? It's not A&E worthy. It's certainly not a minor injury. I don't have a 7 day Dr's surgery.

Phone your GP surgery and you will be directed to the out of hours GP service they will be able to help you. All GP surgeries should have their phones diverted to out of hours at the weekend and at nights.
