Crackling ear

My ear has been crackling for a few days and it's driving me nuts. I've put olive oil in it a few times which makes the crackling stop for a while but no gunk comes out. But it then returns.

Which magic drops do I need? I'm not even sure it is wax as I can hear fine.

Think olive oil is supposed to be the best thing. I've used a spray before but I can't remember what it was called

Otex? I had this last week, drove me nuts, had a furtle and a big lump of gunk came out. Try blowing your nose hard, blocking the non crackly side.

When I had crackling noises in my ear it was actually right inside my ear, I'd had a really vile cold and the snottiness bug had got all the way up inside via the Eustachian tube!

Dr prescribed decongestant - Sudafed - which cleared it.
