styes.........as in where your eye gets swollen

how do you get styes? ive tried looking on the internet but my spelling is probably wrong so it wont find it. ive woke up with one under one of my eyes. i wondered if it was to do with hardly any sleep last night....... up all night with sister's baby

Juicychops, I had a run of styes when my DS was 3 mths old (didn't sleep for 8mths!) put it down to being run down. Used Chlorophenical eye ointments (prescribed by GP) take daily vit C and no recent problems.

juicychops it sounds completely mad but the old wives tale of rubbing it with gold REALLY WORKS. I have no idea why. Take a gold ring (minimum 18k - 14 or 9 just won't do it) and just keep rubbing it along the stye. I find that it really does work.
Apparently gold does have some antibiotic effects or something. Anyway give it a go

Golden eye ointment from the chemist is good. I get them when I am tired, and I do rub a gold ring on it - soothes it.
