toddler with strange sleeping position and sore back

My ds (18 months) has been complaining of a sore back. The doc can find nothing wrong and his movements don't seem affected. However, he likes to sleep in a collapsed crawling position, i.e. on his front with his knees and arms pulled under him. Does anyone else's child do this and do you think that could make his back stiff? Any thoughts much appreciated.

That sounds like a normal sleeping position for small children - at least my children sleep that way! Is his mattress good quality?

How long has he been complaining of a sore back? Maybe he fell down?

It does look very comfy and cute sleeping like that. It's reassuring to know the position isn't odd. He does bash it sometimes shuffling down steps on his bottom so that might be it and he is very tall for his age so he may be more vulnerable but I don't know how common it is for one so young to strain their back. I thought they were too bendy!
