Prostap injections for endometriosis

Had my first jab in a course of 6 tonight to see if a chemically induced menopause might bring me some relief from chronic endometriosis pain. This is the last chance saloon before full hysterectomy. I'm a bit nervous about both the physical and mental repercussions (My 'normal' put state is hellish). Has anyone tried this? Good points? Bad? What was your eventual outcome?

Well, one week in and I'm feeling OK. No bad side effects at all. Here's hoping.

Hi Giss, just seen your post and hoping you're still feeling OK.

I've spent the last 6 months on Zoladex, which I believe is similar to Prostap, and also induces a menopause. I found it OK; hot flushes, night sweats, headaches, and my moods changed. Some symptoms were worse for the first couple of injections, then settled down a bit. I had laparoscopic surgery 3 weeks ago to excise the endometriosis, which was very extensive, so I've now come off the Zoladex and waiting to see what happens.

Everyone is different and some women get more severe or varying symptoms, but I found that being aware of the changes the drug can cause made it easier for me to deal with psychologically, and it was a relief not to have the pain anymore.

I have had it twice once between surgeries and once before ivf, I felt a little more anxious and got sore joints towards the end but it wasn't how I expected after reading the horror stories, good luck!
