Sore throat for 2 weeks

It's really getting me down. I have suffered with sore throats since I was a child, lots of tonsillitis and colds that always seem to go on my throat. But this time it's a shocker. It started with the usual cold and fever and now I'm just left feeling generally under the weather with a terribly painful throat. Got antibiotics from Doctor but finished the course and they didn't work, so must be a virus.

Any tips for trying to minimize the pain?

You have probably tried all these but;
Gargling with soluble co codomol. You can stagger this with ibuprofen.
Hot drinks like lemon tea or hot water and honey.
Difflam spray otc at pharmacy
Gargling with peroxil - peroxide mouthwash. I got mine at boots.
