Sciatica? Feels like labour!!!

Had twinges of lower back pain last night, and several days of same last week, then this morning woke up in a lot of pain. Pain is in lower back but also hips and front of thighs. It was unbearably painful - my DS was a 'back to back' baby and honestly it hurt as much as that. Every position I moved into was agony. I was crying with the pain! I've been taking Nurofen plus since then and it's now down to an ache, still painful but bearable. I will try to get an appt with the doctor tomorrow but thought would try here too! I've been reading up on sciatica but the pain is in the front of my legs, and not in my buttocks? My legs/hips hurt a lot, standing is very uncomfortable. Lying down on my side is just about ok now. I'm dreading waking up tomorrow in as much pain as I was in this morning Sad

That was me two weeks ago.... I was getting back contractions and couldn't walk.... Was stuck at a window ledge. Gas n air, and ambulance the lot. But no baby. I was prescribed cocodamol which didn't really help and tramadol / morphine which have really worked. I had two slipped discs. Emphasise the pain you are in and don't let the doctor fob you off like mine did.

Been there! Ended up with gas and air to pick me up off the floor
Codeine, diazepam and an amazing NHS physio who spotted the cause (weak core) solved it and no problems since

Definitely go to the doctor and get investigations done to rule out medical cause, but if they are no help I would also recommend going to a physiotherapist, they are trained and have time to work out what is causing this sort of pain and in my experience can be more useful than going to doctor.

Thanks for all your replies. Woke up today not nearly as bad, but my legs are just starting to feel a bit achy now. DS got friend coming over for playdate today so don't think can get to doctor. Really hope it's not going to get bad again. I was really freaked out yesterday feeling like I was going through labour all over again!
