has anyone else had this??? Dh went to speak to GP about vasectomy and was told basically we have to go to family planning counselling in order for him to then consider refering us on.

DH said that his GP just needed to know that we'd discussed it and that I was in agreement. (NB. He then had the op done privately in order to be able to fit it in with his working week.)

snowstorm Dh did tell Gp we had been considering it for a year etc but still told we have to go for the counselling.

I assume that different GP's have different ways of doing things as I'm sure I have heard of that before. Maybe it just means a one off meeting so that your GP knows he's done his bit, before refering you on? DH says that his GP didn't know he was going to go privately until the end of the conversation ... I'd mentioned it in my initial post because I'm a cynic and wondered whether that might have had something to do with the counselling option or lack of it.
