Help me get rid of this ruddy verruca

kittyschristmascrackers · 05/12/2006 19:48

I have had a verruca on the sole of my foot for well over a year now. I have tried so many over the counter treatments, costing me a fortune but the blooming thing is still there and showing no signs of going away. It's becoming painful now and I'm getting very p**sed off with it.
Has anyone got any suggestions as to how to kill it off? Or am I going to take it with me forever?

Dab a bit of tea tree oil on it, cover with a bit of banana skin, tape it on and repeat every 24 hours. It works like a treat

Thanks for that PA, is it the inside of the skin that needs to be on the foot?

Get pregnant
This was the only thing that worked for me and i used to have a huge cluster of verrucas and they lived on my foot for 9 years believe it or not .Sometimes it was sooooo painful just to walk on them and then i got pregnant with dd1 and a few months into the pregnancy they just vanished .
I like to believe that dd ate them

Yes, the inside of the banana skin. Hold it on with a sock or tie a bit of bandage around it. My Mum works at the docs and they all swear by it!

Snowbell · 05/12/2006 20:36

I had two very stubborn verrucas and thought I had tried everything. Then I was prescribed something called "Salactol" by doctor. It's liquid stuff in a small bottle that you paint on. I just used it every night and put plasters over the verrucas. It did actually work. I suppose it may have taken 4 months, I can't remember. But they have never come back. You may be able to buy it over the counter. Good luck!

The banana thing takes about a week or so I think so you have to persevere... you have to keep it on overnight, change it in the morning and try to keep it on as much as poss. Basically the banana draws the verucca out of the foot so you will eventually be able to pull it out and that should be the end of it!!

Blondie79 · 05/12/2006 20:52

wee on them

kittyschristmascrackers · 05/12/2006 22:17

Wee on them? Are you serious blondie ?

Draw them out? It sounds horrible doesn't it? Well i have a bit of banana taped to my foot as i write. Fingers crossed

chiropodist told me that they are natrually occuring thing, sometimes immune system doesn't fight but accepts them. not a virulant latex sock necessitating crisis at all. then he doused my foot in acid cut it with knives and charged me £25 so not sure what to believe. verrucas went though.

pelvicfloorSNOWmore · 05/12/2006 22:24

Get an eccentric lady to talk to it
I had a wart on my knee for 2 years, i tried 'everything' It even defeated the Doc freezing it! Then my nan put her hands on her knees, eye level with my wart and said 'now mister wart, your very silly, you would look so pretty on a tree or something, yet you sit there looking rather ugly on FireFaerie's knee.. really, i bet you'd look beautiful on a tree'
I was gobsmacked when it sort of shrank after a week or two. Eccentric ladies are Magic!

Currently doing the banana thing with DTD1. Tried Bazooka for a week. I hated hearing her scream at teh peeling. It just removed layers of her skin.

Been doing banana for about 3 weeks and it really does lift the verucca up rather than killing and removing layers of skin. Cut a small peice of banana skin to just cover verucca(was told that black is best so I have been keeping the same skin in the fridge for 2 -3 days). Hold in place with a plaster. Remove after 24hrs and wipe away the black with a baby wipe. File 1-2 times a week.

I am not into these alternatives usually but this is far far less painful than any other treatment I have seen and it really does work. The verucca is now a tiny stalk in the middle which I think can be 'prised' away at the weekend.

AFAIK even with Bazooka or salatac on prescription it is a 3 month job. Looks as though the banana has done its job in 3 weeks and I believe it would have been less if we had not bazooka'd it first.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 05/12/2006 22:59

I tried everything with mine - bazooka, paint on stinky stuff, freezing, banana, duct tape, tea tree (didn't do the weeing though!?!) In the end it (well they, there must have been more than one) grew to the size of a 10p piece. I went back to the wartner and kept repeating it every two weeks. Used it much more than the recommended 3 (?) times and the verruca has now gone. But it took forever.

Disclaimer - if you use wartner too much your foot may fall off, take heed, be careful.

satinshoes · 05/12/2006 23:02

duck tape. starves it of oxygen and so it dies and disappears. have to have it on for about 3 weeks though (obviously replace when comes off, not same skanky piece)

kittyschristmascrackers · 06/12/2006 07:08

Thanks for all the stories and ideas. I tried duck tape but couldn't get it to stay on.I just felt for ther banana and it's still there

i'm in the process of trying wartner again.
but being really diligent about it. keep filing it. it seems to be shrinking.

Blondie79 · 06/12/2006 19:57

seriously wee will get rid of them - i tried everything on the 3 I had on my foot and then read that if you pour your own wee on them they will go - something in the wee fights infections (or something like that) anyway they disappeared within 2 weeks. Oh and it works on warts too (like on your hands. Never had either since and that was 6 years ago

kittyschristmascrackers · 06/12/2006 20:02

Blondie, hownoften did you put wee on them? I feeln a bit daft asking this
