I can't breathe in properly.

If i do anything remotely active, even standing up and walking into the next room, I can't catch my breath. It feels like I can't breath in fully. I have asthma, but it doesn't feel like asthma. I've been sitting still most of today. Peak flow is a little below normal, but not really concerning (390 - I'm usually 450)
I'm also exhausted, aching muscles from walking upstairs.
I was recently found to have low iron levels, but not sure how low, and I'm waiting for results of a second blood test.
I'm third day into a fairly heavy period, tmi, but it may be relevant if this is an iron level thing.

The breathing is bothering/worrying me, as it is worse today, and I will be ringing the dr tomorrow, but was hoping for some reassurance or opinions as to whether this is an iron level thing or something else, and is there anything I can do immediately to improve my breathing?

yup don't faff around with asthma..phone 111 or go to walk in now

But I don't think it's asthma, ventolin doesn't make any difference, peak flow is ok.
If I sit and do nothing I'm ok.

I had a chest infection once that affected me like that and I'm not asthmatic. I was given salbutimol to improve my breathing. Being an asthmatic you should know that any problems with your breathing should not be taken lightly. You could at least phone for advice which doesn't involve moving around. You're taking a big risk not getting urgent help with this. Asthma can kill
