Severe ear pain when swallowing

Has anyone had this? It came on this morning, in my right ear only. I've got a dull pain in my ear which isn't too bad but when I swallow it feels like my ear is being stabbed, it's so painful.

GP is closed because it's the weekend and I'm not sure if there's any point ringing out of hours? But it's seriously painful, I'm really struggling.

If you're really struggling then out of hours gp is fine to use.

Thanks. I think I will.

Sounds like an ear infection definitely get to OOH before it gets any worse.

I get that a lot...mine is caused by a blocked Eustachian Tube rather than an ear infection.

I usually take Sudafed and breathe some methol/hot water. That with lots of strong painkillers seems to do the trick until the next time I get it which happens a lot.

How did you get on?

Turns out it's a throat infection. They set me up with painkillers but I'm still in bed - hopefully not for much longer! Thanks for asking Duggee Smile
