I hate asthma!

A busy weekend and a small cold has become a massive asthma issue

DD doesn't get 'asthma attacks' as such but when she gets a virus......it's hell

Now, do we ring the GP or wait for a day or two to see if double preventer helps?

Today I think we need the GP

Go to the GP if she's struggling for breath.

Have lots of different preventers been tried? My asthma improved considerably when after 10 years of trial and error with different inhalers we found that Symbicort is far more effective for me than any other drug. I went from being on four preventers at one point to only one.

Taking control of my breathing helped for me as well. Learning about breathing, which I had to do to learn to play the flute, made quite a difference.

Symbicort is amazing, it made me feel in control of my asthma for the first time in years.

OP, definitely take her to the Docs. I have yet another rotten cold and have the elephant on my chest feeling g starting again and, for me, its worse than a full blown attack. Does your survey have an asthma nurse? They are often a bit more knowledgeable than GP's about managing the condition.

She's 17 and a little bit stubborn - I may go & collect her from college (she is off sick today) and drop in on an out of hours on the way home

A cold = bad asthma

She's on ventolin x4 a day plus as necessary, singulair & double preventer

I went & got her

The GP has given her steroids for if her peak flow drops below 200 & anti-biotics if her phlegm changes colour; because if she gets worse over the weekend Monday might be too late
