Rectal bleeding!

Wondering if anyone has any experience of this or has any advice. A few months ago I started passing blood when I went to the toilet. Didn't think much of it and assumed it was piles. Then a few weeks ago I felt the urge to go to the toilet and passed a lot of blood but nothing else. Long story short over the last few weeks I've been back and forth to the Drs and hospital. Firstly was misdiagnosed with an anal fissure I've now seen a colorectal specialist who has confirmed there's no fissure or piles etc so I'm awaiting an appointment date for a colonoscopy. I'ts been put through as an urgent referral so should be in the next week or two. In the mean time I'm going out of my mind with worry. The bleeding has escalated over the last few weeks from a little blood once a day to a mixture of either quite large amounts of blood, clots, what looks like tissue and mucous up to 6 times a day. I feel pretty washed out but I'm in no pain with it at all which I find strange. I know I can only really get the answers I need from the colonoscopy but wondered if anyone has had anything similar and what the outcome was?

OP, I'm sort of bumping for you... I have two acquaintances who have been referred for colonoscopy and the only common theme was that when they give you the laxatives to take, just sit on the toilet. Don't leave the house!

I'm trying to be a little bit light hearted but it must be a worry for you, hope you get seen quickly and that someone will be along soon to give you some advice!

Thank you. Yes I'm not looking forward to the prep one bit! I'll make sure I have a good selection of magazines to take to the loo with me that day!

My FIL had similar sounding symptoms and he was eventually diagnosed with ulcerative colitis .
