When will DP get a date for surgery?

DP is on the waiting list for elective surgery.

He has been told that it is likely to be Jan, with a slim chance of it being Dec.

How long before a scheduled date are we likely to get a date? He is not having the surgery locally and need to get some logistical stuff sorted once we get a date. Is it likely to be days or weeks? Will they phone or write?

I wouldn't get your hopes up. DH was told in August last year that he would be called for his pre-op in six weeks. He finally had it in early September this year, so thirteen months, but when he will get the surgery he needs is anybody's guess.
