advice on middle aged hormones

Since having children my PMS levels have definitely gone up a notch. My youngest is now 4 and recently (past 6 months) my periods have gradually been decreasing to the point where I can now hardly even call it a period, more like a weeks worth of spotting. I've always been very regular so I'm worried something more serious might be going on (definitely not pregnant). I'm only 37 so surely too young for menopause?! I'm not taking any hormone contraception.

I'm booked to see GP in a few days but would be good to get some feedback from others who might have experienced the same thing. Google isn't being very helpful.

TIA
