Repeated shingle attacks? Zostavax?

14yo dd has shingles again. Second time in six months. Last time she was really poorly and off school for six weeks. She seems ok so far this time, touch wood.

I was reading about the zostavax and wondering if anyone where has been given it for repeated shingles? Nhs website says its for over 70s as they're most at risk of complications. But I'm worried about her getting attacks in her gcses, or even just missing long periods of school in the next couple of years.

Id pay for it if I had to.

Zostavax isn't licensed for children and adolescents, and repeated shingles attacks aren't in themselves indications for vaccination.

I'd suggest maybe asking your GP for immune investigations, and the possibility of having acyclovir on standby for immediate treatment.

I sympathise, my DD has had shingles and it's awful.

Thanks.

Yes, think we will have to revisit the GP because I am a bit concerned as to why she's had two attacks so close together.
