CAN'T believe something like this can happen twice in one week :(

On Monday my dh was walking through the front room holding 16 week old ds and tripped and fell with him in his arms onto laminate flooring, ds didnt actually hit the floor but my dh went down on his elbow in which ds was in iykwim.

Spent a couple of hours at A&E and they said he was fine.

THEN today...

We are doing the house up at mo and stupidly left a radiator cover not screwed to the wall, the telewest wire was running behind it, i went to the loo, heard an almighty crash and my dd (almost 3) had somehow managed to pull the wire which caused the radiator cover to fall on top of my ds (who was on the floor on the rug under his play gym, right beneath the radiator cover).

Ds is fine, have checked him all over, but he has a slight bruise and bump to his head, i am now sick with worry about it all, i think he is ok, but if i go A&E they will definately think something dodgy is going on, i was only there on Monday night, can't believe the bad luck we are having this week .

I have stupidly now searched on google and a page came up of a baby who had a head injury and died 2 weeks later, plus i am more worried about the fact his head has taken injuries twice in one week...oh god what should i do????? i would just die if anyone took my kids away from me.

I think a and e do recognize that people have accidents

you may get your hv visiting after an a and e visit but they are usually fine

don't worry

horrible when these things happen but by and large babies are quite robust

if you are at all worried bite the bullet and go to a and e

Phone NHS direct and see what they say.

awww pucca. Try not to worry about what they will think. If you are worried take him to A & E.

I think the fact that they found nothing wrong with him the other day when you took him in is a fair indication that you are a careful, cautious, concerned parent and not one that is neglectful.

Ds tumbled down the stairs from top to bottom twice in one weekend when he was 16 months old and has just started walking. I took him to the GP both times (emergency appointment) just in case.

It may be sexist but I found a lot of people (GP included) just told me to be prepared for many more A&E visits as ds got older - typical boy, apparently.

I took my both DDs to A&E within a week, both with head injuries.

DD2, seven days old at the time, fell out of the pram as I jiggled it up a step. She'd been unfastened when we stopped off at the library, as it was a sweltering hot day, and I forgot to re-fasten the straps. She flew out and hit the concrete head first. Huge bump, screamed like hell (so did I). Took her to A&E, X-ray, all was well. Sent home the next day after observation.

A week later DD1(5) fell of a pony at speed as it bolted and hit her head and abdomen. She was admitted with concussion and a bruised liver!

Again she was kept in for observation, but allowed home the next day.

I s* myself that they would think I'd battered them both and was sure they would at least send the social workers to see us. But the staff were wonderful and never for a second questioned how the injuries had happened.

Please take your LO to be checked out, just to reassure yourself that all is well. They deal with these things every day and can tell the difference between a non accidental injury and a genuine one.

I did end up taking him to A&E, i went on my own with him (dh stayed at home with dd) and i am very relieved and happy to say he is ok (again).The A&E staff were lovely, very kind and reassuring.

It is weird really, as lately i have felt very down, having a 2nd baby has hit me like a brick and have felt very low, maybe someone is trying to buck me up, as these very silly accidents have made me realise just how much i love ds, felt like i could have been sick there and then yesterday

Actually when i got to the bottom of the stairs and realised that poor ds was underneath as much as i wanted to get the thing off him asap, i was also so scared of what damage had been done... don't ever think that sight will EVER leave me tbh.

That must have been a horrible shock, poor you (and ds).
