Hypnosis for weight loss

Have you paid for hypnotherapy to help you lose weight? Did it work?

I talked to DH recently about the fact I'd been considering gastric-band surgery (I'd have to pay as I'm "only" a size 22 so not obese enough to qualify for it on the NHS). He suggested a "virtual" gastric band installed through hypnotherapy would be less drastic but I am so sceptical about alternative therapies and would put hypnosis in the same category as homeopathy (i.e. only likely to work on the credulous via the placebo effect) - would my lack of faith mean that it wouldn't work?

There is a virtual gastric band app that really helped me lose weight a few years ago, it was amazing, and was far cheaper than hypnotherapy sessions would have cost.
The makers of the app are also available for back up and support.
Might be worth a try?
