Measles injection - what reactions should I expect?

I apologise if this has already been discussed, but ds is due for his measles injection (1st one) 6 days before we fly to Australia. What reactions are likely, and am I making a huge mistake by flying longhaul so soon after? I also had planned on giving him Phenergan, surely this will still be okay? Thanks in advance.

Hi. If I remember correctly the reaction to mmr if any at all will be approximately 10 days later. Maybe a rash or fever. Neither of my children had any reaction at all.

Thanks Sofia. I was wondering if I should move it to after we get back, but I'm sure it will be fine. He never had any reaction with other injections.

Hi Mine both had single measles and were fine apart from a slight off day around 10 days later.

Is your ds over 2? We flew to Australia and I was going to get Phenergan but chemist wouldn;t sell it for a child under 2. I asked my Doctor for an alternative and she prescribed Piriton with the safe amt allowed for his age think he was 19mths.

Good luck and enjoy your trip
