Hi

Has anyone had this? I think I may have it. Sex is slightly painful and uncomfortable for me initially on penetration but is fine after a few minutes so not sure. What I do know is anything smaller and thinner eg a finger feels painful and very uncomfortable. If I have a swab test its really awful (I start screaming). Does this suggest it's something psychological? Why would something small and thin feel more painful?

I have it. Took me quite a few years to get a proper diagnosis but once i did i got some really good support from a specialist and now i only really have difficulties when i go for my smear or when i have to be examined by GP's i don't know. But even that is no where near as bad as it used to be.

How old are you? If you are 45+ ish then it could be down to vaginal atrophy (dryness and smaller size) due to loss of hormones associated with peri menopause.
