Underactive thyroid and feeling desperate

My tsh level is 4.48 so just below the upper range for normal

I have many symptoms and feel generally rubbish. It was discovered due to attending a fertility clinic. I have had to go privately for an endocrinology appt as my gp isn't interested as I'm 'sub clinical' apparently

I'm getting thyroxine currently on private prescription but I feel the go should prescribe it and refer me ? I'm worried once my IVF ends I'll be left with no Levothyroxine and get really ill as the gp said I'm sub clinical ?????

On a level of 4.48 you would be diagnosed in every other developed country. Welcome to the thyroidian world!

Have you seen the NICE guidelines re TSH levels when TTC or PG? It's worth a google. I think, from memory, they want it under 2.5. You might want to bring that to your GP's attention at some point.

Can't your private endo write to your GP and tell him to prescribe?

Lots of advice and support on the ThyroidUK forum at www.healthunlocked.com.

Yes my fertility clinic want it definitely below 2.5 and ideally 1-2

It went down a bit a few months ago to 2.4 but shot up again and now I'm on 75mg a day but I'm having to pay for the prescription as apparently I'm 'sub clinical' despite having symptoms, very heavy periods, sudden weight gain, fatigue, cold all the time, and feeling generally awful

Had a blood test privately today for antibodies and also a cortisol test

I just feel anxious that when my fertility appts are over then what? Who will prescribe? I don't want to get worse if I have to come off the tablets
