oasiswaterpool · 03/09/2015 12:33

Started Pregabalin on Tuesday have had 2 doses 75mg on Tues/Wed evening. Today I feel drunk tbh, off my face.. I have made 3 attempts to prepare a cottage pie for this evening lol. How long does this drunkenness last? also feeling dizzy when turning head too fast. I'm at work on Monday little worried I will be too spacey. Any experience please....

This does seem a high dosage, but I'm not an expert, just taking half this amount (pain) with no problems. I think I'd check in with GP if it's not improved enough to work on Monday.

Thank you EmNetta for your reply. I was sick twice after lunch have now spoken to GP and she said have a day off tomorrow and then try 25mg on Saturday. I have felt really weird on this dose.

Good to hear you have no side effects. Do you sleep well on this? I was knocked out for 10 hours with 75mg and found it so difficult to wake up today.

Sadly it probably just isn't for you. A normal starting dose is 75mg twice a day although if someone is frail you would start lower.

It may be worth trying again with a smaller dose built up slowly but my experience is that the people who feel drunk, carry on feeling drunk.

I felt very woozy for a few days, but it settled within a week, and I had to increase the dose very slowly, but took it for about a year with no problem, and then weaned off slowly again once neuropathic pain settled,

Glad you spoke to GP, Oasis and that dose has been reduced for now. Hope you soon adapt to it and start to feel the benefit.
I do take other pain-killers, so unsure about sleeping effect of Pregabalin, but it's not a problem for me.

Don't think I will try lower dose after all been sick 3 times today and didn't even take dose again last night. Dizziness continues. I don't think this drug is for me. Same thing happened on Gabapentin tbh had 2 doses of that and that was a low dose and started being sick and am not usually a queasy type of person. Back to the drawing board I am afraid.

OK if you don't get on with gabapentin, there was about zero chance of you getting on with pregabalin. You generally suit both or neither as they are so similar. Time to try something else.
