Depression after General Anesthesia

My husband had a procedure for kidney stones done 3 days ago and was under general anesthesia and is now extremely depressed. While he doesn't have any pain now he has no energy, is clausaphobic, panicky about being alone and very depressed. I have read that some suffer from post operative depression and we wondered how long this might last? Days, weeks, or months?

In my experience just a couple of days.

For me it lasted about a week, maybe a bit more. Even large amounts of local anaesthetic have this effect on me.

Lots of tlc and comfort foods. Maybe a trip to the cinema for breaking the agoraphobia. You can remain sitting and don't have to talk to anyone but you're out of the house.

My brother had this after a relatively short op - couldn't sleep without a light on ,panicky if left alone . And he was late 60's . I'm afraid it did take a few weeks to pass .
