Feverish, wet cough ... meds options?

DS2 (2) is poorly. He's eating ok, but coughing a lot, particularly when lying down. I guess I should elevate the head of his cot a bit? Would medised help with the coughing? Or should I try steaming him a bit before bed?

He threw up twice in the night, but that was phlegm and coughing vomiting, not real vomit.

I don't know how high his fever is, but half-doses of calpol seem to be keeping it under control. He's not floppy or anything.

you ant give medised with calpol, but you can give it qalong side neurofen. When is he due his next dose of calpol? it may be worth waiting a bit longer and giving medised instead

Well, I was thinking of switching to neurophen for his regular doses (we normally only give half doses, anyway, so if it says 1-2 tsp, we always give 1) from now to bedtime, and then use medised at bedtime.

How's the low-sugar thing working for you today, by the way, misdee?

I think I have the smae bug as DS2 and have been lying in bed eating peanuts and oranges, for no apparent reason.

sorry medised or calpol just so nobody thinks all three

NotQuiteCockney · 26/11/2006 15:51

I had contemplated cough medicine, but I thought they did sod all. (Never use them, myself.) And I was hoping that the big wet coughs might possibly shift some of the goop from his lungs.
