23 yo with a regular partner. on monday 10th august i starting feeling really tired, i was going to the toilets at work to close my eyes for a bit, just utterly exhausted. throughout the week this developed to nausea, hot/cold flushes, belly ache. On Friday my breasts were so large and tender that I could not sleep. I've been on Nexplanon for two years but for the first time since having it put in, I had some blood tinged discharge on Friday eve. This continued over the weekend (not a lot of it but very dark brown/black) and until Tuesday Morning. I was sick on Friday and I had diarrhoea on Saturday. Also on Saturday morning I woke up with terrible lower back pain and tenderness. By Sunday, my abdominal pain had concentrated itself on the lower right side of my pelvis with the occasional vaginal pain. I continued to feel awful so I went to the sexual health clinic on Tuesday to see if my implant was faulty or leaking hormones. they did some tests but they were all fine, the swabs were difficult because my vagina is incredibly tender and sore (but proved not to be an std). They sent me to a&e in case the lower right pain was my appendix. It wasn't, but after a visit to my GP on Friday, I was sent again to a&e to rule out my appendix. Now the pain in my lower right has subsided (it comes and goes but I also get twinges in the middle of my stomach and left side). My abdomen is bloated every morning, I can't wear jeans or anything tight. But my breasts and my back and occasional nausea are the things really bothering me. I just want to sleep all day. On b/c so wasn't ttc but obviously with these symptoms myself and the hospital have done many a pt and all negative! Am I imagining it?

Have you done a pg test?

drinkyourmilk · 23/08/2015 08:17

I would have the implant removed to see if it stops the symptoms

Haggisfish · 23/08/2015 08:17

Sorry just seen you have. Is your period late?

ephelie23 · 23/08/2015 08:36

Yes, i was hoping that removal would be suggested but the sexual health clinic said it was all still working fine and if i wanted to get it removed she could book me in for October 22nd....

Well I haven't had periods in 2 years so infuriatingly apart from that light bleeding earlier, I'd have no idea if it's late...

This sounds like there is a real problem somewhere and it shouldn't be ignored.

I half thought ectopic pregnancy but it doesn't totally sound like it to me. I'm not a medical professional btw but please please keep hassling your GP because this does not sound right at all.

ephelie23 · 23/08/2015 08:45

Thanks everyone. I had considered an ectopic pg but i haven't yet had a positive test and the pain isn't excruciating like other people have experiences. in fact this morning it's just a heavy feeling in my abdomen that's nothing compared to the back pain...
The hospital said they would have like to have done an internal ultrasound but the scanner was fully booked for the weekend. They mentioned I could go back through a&e on Monday and see if there's anything available. I'm petrified of having anything inside me as i'm so tender!

I would go if you can, it may be an ovarian issue like a cyst? Need to get to the bottom of it really, sorry you're feeling rubbish.

StephanieBeacham · 23/08/2015 08:54

You don't necessarily need a + test to confirm an ectopic. Sometimes it can be negative.

Sounds very painful Sad

Do you have any shoulder pain at all? I think that can indicate certain things.

StephanieBeacham · 23/08/2015 08:55

If you tell them how sore you are I am sure they will work around that iyswim, and find other ways to establish what is happening.

ephelie23 · 23/08/2015 09:12

thanks. i hope they find another way. perhaps it is a cyst, i keep wondering if i am pg but it is just too early to tell. seems unlikely on nexplanon though. they could see that on a scan too though right?
