I have been on the pill for many years with no problems, then one day it went wrong, i had loads of spots, put on weight and was SO miserable.... I went to the doctors and she advised a different type of pill. I tried and it was worse, this happened a few times until i asked if perhaps a break would be good. She said it could be so i came off the pill for about a month and during that time conceived my DS (which we had decided 'we'll see what happens'- It happened..VERY quickly!)
Anyway, after having my son i got back onto the original pill and spots came back, weight fluctuates a lot and i get really down... doctor has now given me a different pill and its happening again. Im so down, i feel huge and just cant pick myself up at the moment.
The only thing i can think about is coming off the pill totally - but then we'll have to be so careful, DS doesnt need and brothers or sisters just yet!
Has anyone else had this type of problem? Any suggestions to what you use? I want to pick myself back up and be the happy person i am....i could just cry!

interesting... i've just gone off the pill as we suspect it's what makes me miserable for about a week every month. i get really weepy, sad and i am a pain to around. it happens on the week i have a break before starting a new pack. so DP and i decided to try for a while without the pill and see if that helps.

a pain to be around. well, it's not that bad, i just feel really tired and fed up.

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 24/11/2006 13:33

ive stopped taking mine for exactly the same reasons.

ive already lost 5lbs in the month ive been off it.

my moods are better, still a little teary but better than psycho-bitch mode for 2 weeks a month.

asleep · 24/11/2006 13:36

i'm on mycrogynon 30 btw. never been on a different one.

maxwellsmum · 24/11/2006 13:36

i think it could be the only option... My GP actually suggested trying an implant, but i though what happens if i still get the same bloody symptons and i'm stuck with it for 6 months!!! NOT GOOD.
I think i may try coming back off and seeing what happens.... when i last came off i was so happy and felt strong... I just feel crap and miserable and fat and teary... you get the idea... Just feeling poo right now!

mine was microgynen too - was fine pre-kids, crappy now.

Iklboo · 24/11/2006 13:39

Me too - I take microgynon! Narry a worry or wobbly before having DS - NOW I'm queen bitch from hell and damn near homicidally fed up about the week before AF. The SECOND Af starts, back to me old cheery self

nutcracker · 24/11/2006 13:41

I had /have the same problem.

Was on microgynon for years and was fine until after I had Ds. I suddenly went spotty, moody and out on weight.

I have swapped to another one (beginns with L) but it hasn't made any difference.

Iklboo · 24/11/2006 13:43

And doc keeps telling DH he's too young for the snip at 29 and says he'd be reluctant to refer me for sterilisation as "You're still quite young at 37"

DOn't know whether to hit or hug him (suppose it depends on the AF situation)

maxwellsmum · 24/11/2006 13:45

i'm glad its not just me then... i thought i was being a pain going back to the GP every few months saying the same thing over!

I came off mine after ds2 for the same reasons. It had been fine until I went back on it after ds1 then I just felt 'odd'; couldn't put my finger on it really. I think that was Logynon. I tried a couple of others but gave up in the end.

We had dd and then dh had the snip.

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 24/11/2006 16:57

Im tired ALL the time too, even after 10 hrs kip a night, i dont want to get out of bed - although this is getting a lot better since stopping.

As a SAHM I dont really have cause to be knackered or stressed blah blah blah but honestly, I am god-awful sometimes.

Just had my first period since finishing, and I did have a bad day on day one with cramps - ended up with a heat pack attatched all day, and the flow is VERY heavy, but my moods are so much better!

maxwellsmum · 24/11/2006 20:31

I do also get tired, for no apparent reason... this is obviously more common than i thought!!!
Strange that my GP looks at me oddly when i say i'm not happy on the pill... perhaps its time to forget this nonsense and be happy with out it.
Cheers everyone....you've really help me out... going to go and sulk until i finish the pack i'm on

thanks for starting this thread maxwellsmum! it's been very helpful!

asleep · 01/12/2006 10:45

how are you doing, maxwellsmum?

i've been feeling a lot better. happier, less tired and all my trousers are too big! must be less bloating or something as i haven't actually lost weight.

Sugarmagnolia · 01/12/2006 14:52

Wow, this is a revelation! I've not been happy on the pill for a long time now and have tried many different pills over the last year. Some cause terrible spots, some cause heavy periods, some cause constant bleeding, all cause me to get up to go to the loo 2 or 3 times a night. What I never connected with the pill was the utter exhaustion I feel half the time. I thought it might be indirectly due to the pill because of getting up to go to the loo every night but never realised the pill could actually be making me feel tired. I have been on Yasmin & Cerazette and am currently on Microgynon but to be honest I just want to be done with the whole thing. I tried going pill-free for 3 months this summer and felt great. Except for the total lack of sex of course . I think it may be time to take more permanent steps.
