Mooncup advice please.

I'm wondering if anyone can give me any advice on trying out a mooncup please. I've always used tampons but since having two children I have lots of huge blood clots (sorry tmi) and I wondered if anyone else had found that using a mooncup was better to deal with this?

A lot of people find their period is lighter with a cup, it is certainly worth a try. There are many brands other than mooncup and it can be a bit of trial and error to get one that works for you. diva cup, meluna which in itself has different ones are a couple of mooncup alternatives.

I love my cup. I've had it for 6 months now and wish I bought one years ago.
I have a my luna . I bought it as it is much cheaper than a moon cup answer as I was unsure of whether I would like it I didn't want to spend lots of money.
Mine has a ring at the bottom which makes it easy so take out and clean and is great for beginners.

I got on fine with tampons pre ds but found them very uncomfortable, drying and a poor fit after. Tried a mooncup and haven't looked back. So much better. I would recommend giving it a go.

I use a mooncup have done for about nine years now. I used to get very heavy periods with blood clots, but after a few months of using the mooncup the periods became lighter, so two heavy days and way fewer clots as well.

Initially I did have to wear a pad as mooncups leak if you pass a clot, you need to clean it out if that happens.

Oddly I could never use tampons for some reason I'd start feeling dizzy and faint every time. But I've got on really well with mooncups.

Some people have problems getting them out when using them for the first time, the trick is to pinch the cup at the bottom and carefully ease it out.

I would totally recommend it.

Can i ask how you know what size?

Mooncup a come in two sizes. A and B. B One is suitable for under 30s or those who haven't had children by VDelivery. A One is for over 30s or those who have squeezed a baby out.

Comfortably but I've had mine for 4 years and I never feel it, my periods are lighter and I don't get period pain any more. I don't know if that works for everyone but I honestly would never stop using it. I calculated that it has probably saved me between 80-100 quid over the years on sanitary products.

Might just get a bucket then! Thanks will have a look. Keep thinking they are a good idea.

I had better luck with the Meluna cups. Mine has a little ring at the bottom to make it easier to remove. They come in all sorts of sizes, colours and thicknesses - try the XL size if you have very heavy periods.

Can't comment on very heavy periods but I say try it anyway.

I have used tampons when forgotten to take mooncup on hols recently and they were awful. Really 'dragging' and leaked.

So yes. Mooncup fan here.

I totally understand about the 'dragging' feeling it's awful isn't it. I looked in boots and then was s but confused about which one to get so I need to look online its rather hard to look at the carefully in the shop with two small boys "what's that?"and "can we have one?!"
