Which cough medicine can I take whilst pregnant?

Have Hill's Balsam and benylin in cupboard.
This cough is driving me crazy and honey and hot lemon doing nothing.

The pharmacy wouldn't sell me anything when I was pg - not even honey and glycerin - without my gp's permission. I think that is okay but I wouldn't try anything else w/out checking with my gp or mw.

Think you might have to put up with it! Oh the joys...(not doing your pelvic floor any good either).

I was given simple linctus by my pharmacist but tbh it does bu**er all after the first 30 seconds!
