Is this normal for toothache ??

Been having toothache in top ball wisdom tooth since Tuesday last week. Seen an emergency dentist who said everything looked fine no infection but the wisdom tooth would need taken out and to see my own dentist. Own dentist said it sounded like an infection on the phone and left a script for antibiodic without seeing me. Day two of antibiodic and pain is even worse. It radiates to my
Inner ear and down my neck also causing headache. Paracetamol has done anything and ibuprofen is just touching it. Appointment is not until the end of September to see my dentist so unsure what todo and if it's normal of something else going on.

You need an emergency appointment. Tooth ache is the worst

I did ring for an emergency but the dentist would see me as convinced it was an infection even know I had told him I seen a dentist who said no infection was present :( plus the waiting list to have wisdom teeth out is 7 months long. I could not have this pain for 7 months at a total loss with it, I can't take anything stronger as I have a lo to look after

Is there any swelling on the side of your face where it hurts? If there is it sounds like you could possibly have an abcess as it sounds like the pain I had at Christmas.

If it is an abcess the antibiotics will work but I always felt worse for first couple of days with them. The only other thing that may help is making up some salt water, disgusting I know and holding it in your mouth so it's where the toothache is also a cold compress and rubbing sensitive toothpaste over gum front and back can help ease the pain.

Could you get to the GP for some stronger pain killers till the infection starts shifting ?

GPs aren't dentally trained. In the same way as a car mechanic isn't a plumber.

Guidance from our defence unions is to stay well clear of any dental problems , advice to see dentist - emergency dentist if needed.
