Just wanted to post an update on DS1 and share my happiness that it's finally being taken seriously!

As some of you may remember i posted a while ago that DS1 had been having 'fits' and was rushed to hospital in an ambulance.
Apart from this he has never been what i would call 'well' he is 2 and has been on about 30 courses of anti biotics for ear/eye and chest infection, he has a constant runny nose and alot of phlem on his chest which goes into his stomach and makes him vomit.
He has a constant rash and produces about 9-10 really offensive smelling poo's.
Apart from that he is just really under the weather all the time.

After battling with our g.p fir god knows how long to take this seriously i am now pleased to say we have seen a consultant and we have got the ball moving!

He is a lovley man at our local Peadiatric dept who is really taking DS1's health seriously. He effered us for a brain scan which was inconclusive asit showed high peaks and movement levels but this apparently could be normal as DS wasn't sitting particually still during the scan. He has done a full screening of his immune system and basically taken blood to test for everything, plus a full set of bloo tests for food allergies as DS was dairy intolerant as a babe.

He has also reffered us to the convulsion specialist and fast tracked it we have an appointment in 2 weeks time with her. We are also going to see a respitory/ears/nose and throat specialist so things really are begining to happen. For now he has taken DS completley off dairy again to see what effect it has while we wait for the blood test results. Poor DS has a real traumatic time having his blood taken he has inherited my thick blood so had to have it pumped from his hand rather than just bled, he cried for ages poor bloke!

I just wanted to say if you have a gut instinct that something isn't right with your childs health fight for it becuase you will get results eventually, i was fobbed off for 2 yrs with 'he's just got a cold' 'it's normal to get infections' ect but the top peadiatrician has agreed that DS is not at all right and has promised to get this sorted for us!

Pleased for you - and well done on your convictions - you just know sometimes don't you? I had a friend in a similar situation who was passed from pillar to post with her ds1 who eventually had an infection in his spine!! They had her down as neurotic first time mum.

Hope it all goes well now you are on the path to finding out what it is.

has he ever been tested for allergies ? I have a vague memory of too much mucus being a symptom of an allergy (maybe to milk ?).

I hope your consultant comes up trumps.
