Hi my friend had a hysterectomy 2 weeks ago and found out yesterday that she had 2 unrelated cancers. A stage one cancer of the ovary that has not spread and a cancer of the uterus that had spread down but not out of the uterus. Her stomach wash came back clear.
Anyway she is being referred for radiation therapy as a preventative measure and we don't know anyone else who has had this treatment so she doesn't know what to expect. Can anyone help us.
Thank-you....

My dad had this about 2 years ago for prostate cancer. He had to go everyday for about 6 weeks for treatment which lasts seconds and then could go straight home again. He said it didn't hurt and didn't suffer any side effects like tiredness. It cured him and had no trace of the cancer after the treatment. However he has just found out he now has bladder cancer (unrelated) so is just starting treatment for that the Cancer research site is informative. as is cancer backup

Wishing your friend well with her treatment....

my mum had radiation treatment for uterine cancer a couple of years ago. The side effects were cumulutive so by the end of the course she was very tired and had a lot of stomach upsets but they subsided once the treatment was finished and she's had the all-clear every since. Good luck to your friend.
