Anyone's dc's have bald spot/

DD,aged 19mts has a bald patch/birth mark on her head.
She has had it since birht and I had hoped that the hair would eventually start growing.
Unfortunately the patch has continued to grow as her head has and still nothing more than fluff.
Just wondered if anyone else had encountered the same probelm-am tempted to go to GP for referral to a plastic surgeon for his opinion.
As it stands,dd will never be able to have a short hairstyle and I know how cruel children can be.

ANy advice?

Neither of my DCs have a bald spot...but I do. Had it from birth and it is completely bald. As it's at the back of my head I can comb hair over it, but it's right where a central parting would be so it does keep peeping out. I do remember getting teased about it a bit when I was a kid, but not that much really. I was more bothered about feeling different that the odd bit of teasing actually. And it depends on who you encounter; nasty kids wil pick on anything, kids who like and know you just stop noticing.

I managed to have short hair OK. Where is the patch?

Worth asking the GP about it, I think it is perfectly valid, as it's not cosmetic in the sense of prettification is it? But I bet they wouldn't do anything until she'd stopped growing, by which point she might not care that much anyway (like me). Meantime I would definitely get some advice on how to help your DD deal with any comments or attitude that comes her way.

I remember that the cheek of one of the most sought after girls in my secondary school was covered by an extremely large and vivid strawberry mark. She wore special make up to conceal it but you could tell it was make-up, and some days she didn't even wear it. She was pretty, clever, kind and very popular.

The patch is very close to the crown of her head and like you,is covered by longer hair if the wind doesn't blow.

Am concerned if i leave it till she has stopped growing it will be so big they won't be able to do anything about it.
