Hello, I'm a newbie here and never done anything like this but I'm super scared and looking for advice/personal experience. I had a scan 2 weeks ago due to bleeding between periods. Well I had a letter from hospital today saying I have an appointment for 2 months time to have a camera look inside my womb as they think I may have a polyp. Well I'm a real worrier and did a silly thing of googling and that basically resulted in me convincing myself I have cancer. Has anyone else had this and gone on to be ok. I've got 3 children I need to look after so I can't be ill. The only other symptom I have apart from the bleeding is I get really tiered alot. Thankyou every one

Amisupermum, I had a couple of polyps last year. They whipped them out and tested them and they were totally clear. It was quick relatively painless and I believe polyps are pretty common and nought to worry about. Please relax if you can. Very unmumsnetty hugs to you!

thankyou for your reply. I know I'm probably working myself up into a frenzy for nothing I'm just a natural worrier and always think the worst of everything Sad

Me too, that's why I replied! Grin Tbh I find it much easier to control if I stay away from Dr Google, as all those threads seem to lead to hideousness. Talk to your gynae - they'll reassure you. Good luck

I could've written your post myself 2years ago! I had constant bleeding and bearing down sensation for months. I had a vaginal and external ultrasound (nothing in my womb) and it was clear as day, a huge polyp at the entrance to my womb.
I convinced myself I was at deaths door but hadn't removed under general pretty quickly. They inserted a coil too asapparantly it reduces the chances of them coming back.
Good luck.

Btw, the op was really nothing..atonal on event and I felt fine after.

Hey cestlavielife how did your hysteroscopy go? Mine is coming up on Thursday and I'm petrified. Sad I'm bleeding quite heavy although my period was 2 weeks ago, just can't wait to get it all over and done with.

I oddly found it quite fascinatinating - there's a screen you can watch the camera on if you want (don't have to if you don't want). Not painful at all... obvs a but uncomfortable, and you feel a bit vulnerable, but I had a nurse there just to talk to me / look after me, not part of the procedure, who was lovely.
Also, like others, they did take it away for biopsy but there were no issues. If they were concerned, they'd have had you straight in, not waiting until now.
