it looks like nappy rash, but is all over her torso, front and back, though not on arms and legs. she seems fine in herself, but it's come up so quickly (within half an hour)...am waiting for nurse to ring me back, but does anyone know what it might be? dd is 6 months.
thanks

my daughter has had this with a virus. has you little one been ill?

always get rashes checked out by GP, just to be sure. over the phone consulation is not enough.

Twiglett · 20/11/2006 13:19

viral rash .. small pinpricks? and blotchy

can be standard reaction to fighting any bug

I never get rashes checked they happen so often .. only if they don't blanch

evilstepmom · 20/11/2006 13:24

thanks guys - sounds like your rash twiglett but she seems fine and happy in herself...still waiting for nurse to ring...

if she has no other symptoms I wouldn't worry

if she seems in pain / fever give her calpol / nurofen

she'll be fine

avegetablecumfruit · 20/11/2006 13:30

Have you done the 'glass test'?

evilstepmom · 20/11/2006 13:32

yep, glass test came up fine. am sure you're right twiglett, just that mn responds far more quickly with reassurance than the average gp!
many thanks, will post gp's response later

can I thank you for this post - NHS Direct didn't ring me back about this and I have been wondering what to do... Like evilstepmom, DD (also 6 months) has little pinprick-like marks on her torso but nowhere else. She's just started nursery this week and has been exhausted but otherwise ok so I thought it might be linked to that. But then like any mum panicked a bit and cheers to you all for reassuring me that she's ok! Have calpolled her and hopefully it'll die down by morning. good night all.
