Hi,

I'm old enough and have completed my family, really, hate pills- cause hormonal mayhem - and won't bother with other malarky in heat of the moment, has anybody any advice on having tubes tied? Experiences good or bad would be really appreciated.

Thank you!

I had one a year ago after a CS.They do it differently if you have it then. Which I guess you are not planning......

MaLady · 18/11/2006 15:15

Thanks Kristina, no, not planning any more but how have you found it?

hard to say as it was my first Cs as well, so can only compare to vaginal deliveries. i was sore at the site of teh ligation, worse than at the wound of the section. Is that what you mean? But if you have a section they cut the tubes. I think they only clip then normally??? Not sure......

Thanks, also i was keen to know if you have experienced any side affects to do with periods or general hormonal changes that kind of thing? Have just found
this which looks worth investigating too. Suppose I was looking for a recommendation really more than anything thanks Kristina.

Hi MaLady - there's been a few threads about this - search the archives for Essure or sterilization (sterilisation?).

KristinaM · 19/11/2006 17:37

Malady - I have been Bf since I had mine done last year so my periods only started three weeks ago! I didnt notice much difference from normal but I guess its too early to tell. Probably ditto with the hormonal changes as you woudl expect that anyway in the year after giving birth. So I am probably not the best person to ask.

I hadn't really expected any hormonal effects TBH as i am ovulating as normal - just had my tubes tied. perhaps i am rather naive????

Thanks SugarMagnolia I'll have a search.
Kristina, good to hear you've got on really well with it, and that you're sucessfully bf your lo, I think you're home and dry as far as the side effects side goes which is good to hear so thanks for that.
