Mosquito repellent that works?

I have tried so many things and still get eaten alive! The bites swell up to gigantic proportions and are hot, pink and uncomfortable-usually controllable by Piriton, but I have been given antibiotics when they've got really bad and they've also turned into cellulitis which was horrible.

The best thing is this link but even that isn't brilliant.

Can anyone recommend anything that they've found works? The Avon So Soft stuff doesn't do anything, nor does Jungle Formula or wrist bands.

I use 'Off'. Bit stinky but does the job. Lots of lovely DEET in it.

Mosquito milk from Boots works for me. It's a roll on and you only need to put bands 15cm apart for complete coverage. I believe it does contain DEET.

midgebabe
...I do forget I am wearing it and then try to drink something! Thank you for the warning lol

I'm on holiday in the Scottish Highlands & surrounded by more midgees than tourists! Luckily I checked before coming & heard they're bad so not only packed my trusty Incognito spray, but their Loofah Soap as well. I parked up & sprayed all over before getting out as I could see swarms of the pests, a couple got in my hair but I didn't get bitten at all!

Over dinner that evening we talked to a couple on the next table & she was covered in bites using Repel from Boots, she said it contained 50% Deet, but was useless for & not that much better for partner. Interestingly in the Co-op I couldn't avoid noticing this new product named Smidge as there were 2 shelves full of it, I don't know if that's because nobody's buying it or it's so good they have hundreds of bottles!?

On the plus side I'm loving the spectacular scenery & the midge-perfect weather Smile
