DD2 (3) has had a cold and cough for about a week I noticed earlier she has got ver tiny spots / rash from her eyebrow down over her eyelids and on one side by the corner of her eye. She is tired and rubs them a bit any, does anyone know what this might be or had anything similar?

conjunctivitis?

I just read somewhere that eye infections are common esp. after a cold.

bathe frequently with clean hands and use separate towel/face cloth etc for baby.

see doc if gets worse

It's not actually in her eyes which other than being heavy are fine it is on her eyelids

Bumping myself as a last ditch atempt to go to work and not worry all night

Has she got very fine skin? My ds2 always gets a rash that sounds like this around his eyes if he vomits hard, coughs for ages, or even sometimes if he has a really full-on tantrum. I think with him it's just tiny broken blood vessels and it goes in 2-3 days. Sorry didn't see this earlier, hope not too late, good luck

dd gets this sometimes, esp in cold weather. Put vaseline on it and keep an eye on it ('scuse the pun!). Make sure she washes her hands regularly and tries not to rub her eyes.

eczema?

MamaG · 16/11/2006 15:49

Has she been sick?

Like saintmaybe's DS, I get this if I'm sick (I'm so delicate )

It is just burst blood vessels and disappears after a few days. If your DD has been coughing very hard, that could have caused it too.

Thanks everyone, I think you are right about burst blood vessels, she was sick on Wednesday evening. I didn't get this in time for work but I kept ringing DP checking on her wellbeing !

I used to get them all round my eyes in my student days if I'd been reaaally sick - I knew instantly I saw the thread title what they would be

Keep a look out for the snot induced conjunctivitus though - getting cream into a 3 year olds eyes is murder!

albatros · 17/11/2006 13:28

I've never noticed it before, and hadn't heard of it happening. Mumsnet never fails to suprise me with the wealth of information out there.
Lucycat did you perhaps overindulge during your student days?
