Run over foot

Today my foot was run over. The car drove onto my foot, stopped there for about ten seconds (it felt like it lasted an age!) and then reversed back off again.

There's little bruising, except for 6-8 dark spots, approximately 5mm in diameter, and half of one of my toe nails has gone black. I can move all my toes so I am confident that nothing is broken. I haven't been to the hospital yet, although I have time to go tomorrow if I really need to.

There is pain when the area is touched, although it doesn't seem particularly swollen anymore. I have two questions:

  1. Should I be putting my shoe into trainers, or wearing flip flops while it recovers?
  2. Even though I can move everything, is there any chance that I could've hurt something that requires hospital attention?

I have avoided googling too much yet to not panic myself. I thought I would see what everyone else thought. I'm hoping that you'll all say it's nothing too serious because I don't want to have to go make a statement with the police in order to sue the driver for the expenses and I have a trip to a water park planned later this week and don't want too many bandages in the way Sad

You need to get an x-ray. Tomorrow it will hurt like a bastard. It's best to get it checked the same day as the accident.

If you can go today it is best, it sounds like it needs checking out.

Hi everyone. Thanks for the responses. I had an xray and a checkup done. I have got a little bit of ligament damage on the top but luckily no breaks. I am also very lucky in that the car didn't reach the arch of my foot, otherwise that likely would've been broken.

I am now off to make a police statement so that I can sue the bloody taxi driver who sped off as soon as he'd freed my foot.
