Hi, I've just been diagnosed with diverticulitis and am feeling a bit down about it all. Does anyone have any positive experiences to cheer me up? Or dietary advice to stop future attacks?

My mum(77) has quite severe diverticulitis. I cant really offer any advice on diet, she sees a dietician at the hospital for advice but is so bloody minded ignores everything they say anyway and manages it by taking a combination of medicines for diahorrea one day and constipation the next.

She'll have a slice of toast for dinner one evening and a full blown Chinese curry and chips the next and wonders why she has problems.

I'm sure it would be much better if she did control it through diet. Have they referred you at your hospital?

Sorry to hear about you diagnosis, it is a very unpleasant condition, hope you manage to get it under some control.
