i've posted this on the nappies/potty training thread as well but thought i might get a better response here...

my ds is almost 7 mos and has 3 meals a day plus 4 bottles (total about 24-26oz).

breakfast is baby rice (usually about 3 oz formula) and pureed fruit (apple, pear, banana, prune), lunch and dinner pureed veg (he eats potatoes, sweet pots, carrots, squash, broccoli, peas, parsnips, courgettes, sweetcorn) and i've just introduced finely chopped chicken.

he's not a particularly pudgy baby, has been 75th centile for height and 25th for weight pretty consistently since birth. he has nice meaty little thighs and chubby cheeks though!

now... the issue... he poops 4 or 5 times a day, sometimes more. this seems like a lot to me! sometimes if it's not much i think, fair enough, there's more to come but today for example he's had 4 poopy nappies so far and 3 of those were pretty substantial!!!

am i feeding him to much? he rarely turns away from food i usually give him what seems like a reasonable amount because it seems he'll eat forever sometimes! my other worry is that his body isn't digesting properly but i think it looks 'normal' if a little on the solid side sometimes. any advice?

My ds pooped for england, my mum who has 4ds,2dd said she'd never seen a baby poo so much, or make so much noise whilst doing so. But what are you going to do put a cork up their bum? A healthy baby will eat what he needs, don't worry about over feeding, as long as you are giving him good stuff in the first place he'll be fine. He'll soon start burning off any baby fat with high speed crawling. Also remember us mum's somtimes like to over examine nappy contents, when do we ever do that to our own poop!

my dd in same weight/height range and some days she does so much poo I can't believe it all came out of her! If the poo is normal and he's not got diahorreah - sp? - then surely its all tickety boo (tickety poo?)

thanks very much, i know i tend to be a bit paranoid but it's nice to have reassurance!
