My DH had alopecia - a big round patch on the side of his head - after an accident. Stress related apparently. Took a couple of years to grow back. He shaved his head and wore a cap for that time. Harder for women though.

Have you got alopecia? At the time I researched it and read about ice packs helping. We tried all sorts.

my hair has never really fallen out as such, but when i was 15 it just became very very thin, so much so you can see the top of my head and i have to have it short.
One thing that helped me cope was the fact that after I realised that so many other women suffered from hair thinning or hair loss it actually made me feel so much better! Just don't know what to do with all those hairties still!

its amazing how common it is now its so hard for us women though we cant just shave our heads like men can the tel u its stress related and not to stress but how isthat possible when is a major part of your body that every 1 notices my hair was the only thing i liked bout my body an now thats ruined life a bitch!!!

My temples are thin but hopefully just post baby although not sure how long you can use that as an excuse.

kylester · 11/11/2006 13:53

If temples are thinning how long does this last? It's happening to me too! have short hair and is really noticeable.

I've had the whole lot. Alopecia as a teenager. Trichotillomania (self inflicted hair loss through pulling it out!) post baby hair loss and mirena coil hairloss.
The irony is that left to it's own devices I have twice as much hair as everyone else! It's megga thick, which made it easier to cover up most of the time.
I spent a horrible period as a teenager with a huge bald patch a the back and sides of my head. My lovely siblings gave me the nick name Garribaldi! Lovely!
You have my every sympathy. Its bloody awful.
