The other day I put my back out moving our garden table. Since then I have been in agony, I've been taking nurofen and co-codomol and saw an osteopath who is fairly sure it's muscular rather than disc related.

I'm in constant discomfort and frequently move in the wrong direction when my back spasms and I feel like I'm going to pass put with the pain. I'm being very careful, I'm keeping mobile but any idea how long this terrible pain might last? I've genuinely never hurt myself this badly before.

Sympathies! I did this a few weeks ago, the first week was agony, but things were bearable by day 10 and gone by the end of the second week.

Be super-careful about twisting/reaching into cupboards etc and don't bend sideways or pick things up off the floor if you can possibly avoid it. kneeling on the floor in front of the washing machine and reaching with both hands together to empty it is one trick that I was told to do and which helped, you just kind of have to get into new habits of the way you do general stuff/getting and out of the car etc.
