There has been a lot of misinformation and misunderstanding about this scheme across FB and similar.
You can't just rock up and claim your free bottle of Calpol, or stock up your medicine cabinet. You have to have an assessment with a pharmacist who has signed up to the scheme (not all have and it's a CCG commissioned service so not nationwide across all areas).
If the pharmacist agrees that your symptoms or those of the child you have presented with, require a medication or treatment covered by the scheme then they will prescribe it and dispense it for free AS LONG AS YOU OR THE CHILD ARE ELIGIBLE FOR FREE PRESCRIPTIONS.
It is to save people attending for GP appointments for minor ailments that could be dealt with by a pharmacist.
