Shall i carry on with this eye ointment ?

Have been using Chloramphenicol eye ointment since last friday,my gp prescribed it for 4 times a day for styes because i cant get rid of them.
Today my eyes feel sore and dry and there has been no improvement ,so shall i keep using it or not?
Can anyone advise please?

Can he not give you a different drop, you can get fucithalmic drops. Ask if he can give you these instead.

The Gp didn't say how long to use it for,so not sure if ive used it too long?
Fucithalmic drops are they antibiotic?

30% of the population are allergic to chloraphicol but it is cheap and alot of drs prescribe it. I am allergic to it - I get severe burning in my eye when I apply it - and so do my children. Fucithalmic drops are gentler but not sure if suitable for a stye. I would stop the chlorapheicol and go back to dr as if there is no improvement no point in continuing. Good luck.
