Had Essure implants inserted today and part of the appeal was the non surgical side ie it took about 10mins and was done without incisions or injections. But my God was it sore!! I've had my 3dc by cs but this was real discomfort, and legs in stirrups - never easy to relax. But its done now and I just have period like cramps so am taking a couple of ibuprofen and going to bed.

interesting to hear your perspective about this multitasker as I went to a conference at the weekend and the surgeons were raving about this technique, saying it was painless! Was it bad because you found it difficult to relax, or was it actually painful whilst being done?

It was uncomfortable while the surgeon was trying to get through my cervix and said my womb was tilted quite far back. I defy anyone to say that it would be completely pain free having something being inserted into your falopian tubes. Maybe I'm a bit of a wous but if I'd know about the pain I'd have definitely asked for a bit of local anaesthetic.

I did have my doubts when he was saying it would be absolutely 'pain-free', this coming from a male surgeon! But like you say, this is still probably better than having to stay in hospital overnight or have a normal surgical procedure, even with sedation. Thanks for telling me you experiences.

Never heard of this method of sterilisation. Is it a permanent thing ?

No probs MMCup, My surgeon was prob late60s running 2 hours behind and had no lunch - like myself! I got very light headed and low blood pressure for nearly an hour after - but I think I was just hungry - I need fed regularly! and had nothing since breakfast. No regrets though, I will go back for a checkup in 3 months time to make sure the implants have taken, and get off this blasted pill and try a new experience - a mooncup.

Yes permanent, my tubes are blocked with a non hormonal implant and the sucess rate is - for my surgeon who has done over 100 - 100%

Few cramps today but nothing serious, might just leave the ironing though...
