Radio Therapy - what to expect

My Dad has Prostate Cancer and started his Radio treatment today ...
He has been waiting for 6 months for it to start (?)
Just looking for a bit of advice for ....
a) My Mum whos is going through it with him and
b) me - who lives so far away - that I can only phone ...

Probably a trivial question ... but what should we all expect ?
Thanks

Has he had any other treatment first, crystal? Or has he just been waiting?

what sort of radiotherapy is he having? My FIL had radioactive chips implanted in his prostate and is feeling great - he didn't tell us of any problems with the procedure (done under local anaesthetic, I think), so there probably weren't too many, as he's usually very forthcoming about his health!!

My dads up for this too . He's already started on the treatment to 'neutralise' his hormones and is yet to start the actual radiotherapy. He seems to think they mark you with a pen and may even tattoo you with a small dot - just to get the precise target right. And you have to go everyday for however many weeks. Dad seems to be taking it all in his stride and as far as he knows the only drawback when he starts the radiotherapy is it makes you quite tired and you can also have a 'runny tummy'. I've found a really good web page that will also answer some more queries.

Hope it all goes well for him.
