So I went to my lovely nhs dentist the other day, to be told I need numerous fillings, root canal and a crown. He has agreed to do all the work for me under the nhs price band 3 which I am incredibly grateful for as this would be near impossible usually. However he cannot see me till 5th june for root canal treatment and this morning I woke up in absolute agony, my mouth and glands are extremely sore. I would rather not lose the tooth and wait for root canal but any advice on what I can do in the meantime? Can my GP provide me with painkillers?

If you are in agony most dentists usually keep space for an emergency appointment or two each day.

I doubt he would be able to do much today that is the problem. I need a 40min appt for root canal. I went to see the dentist on monday and the only other quick option would be to pull it. Just wondering whether its worth making a gps appt to see if they can prescribe me some painkillers. Looks like I will just have to put up with it :(
