I went to the pharmacy the other week to collect DD's repeat prescription for becotide and the pharmacist said it was no longer available here. She spoke to our doc and he prescribed flixotide (orange puffer) instead. I had never thought becotide did much good, DD has severe asthma, we use nebuliser regularly and she has had several stints in hospital since she was 2 (she is now 5). After three days of being on flixotide she is like a different child, not wheezy at all, full of beans, noisy! I haven't seen her like this for over a year and I am so happy She has now been taking the flixotide for over a month and has not wheezed since, despite having had a cough and sore throat. I am not kidding myself that she is "cured" but the quality of her life is so much improved, and this is the longest we have gone without an attack in three years.

ds's medication was changed from brown to orange a few years ago and it did seem to make a difference. No bad attack for two years now.

Ds1 uses flixotide too. Before this he used to cough whenever he ran anywhere and he was hospitalised twice. The flixotide has stopped the coughing and (touchwood) no more hospital stays for ds1.
